The Cusco City Retreat offers the opportunity to participate in a volunteer project with your team, while being conveniently located in the amazing city of Cusco. Not only will you be making a difference in the volunteer project of your choice, but you will get to enjoy the amazing food, historical sites, and fun nightlife that the city offers.

Program Description:
Day 1 – ARRIVAL IN CUSCO
Upon arrival, you will be picked up at the Cusco airport and taken to your accommodations. You will be given an orientation to the city as well as your volunteer project.
**NOTE:. Arrival flight must be before 11:00am
Afternoon:Cusco Walking tour
02:00pm – We walk by the most important Cusco sights like Plaza de Armas of Cusco city (Main Square), Inca time map of the city, house of the “Daughters of the Sun”, llamas and alpacas for selfies during the day, Sun temple, inside of an impressive Incan neighborhood, anti-seismic stone walls, we also visit the San Blas neighborhood with its impressive handcrafts.

Day 2 – RELIGIOUS VISIT TO BARROQUE ANDEAN CHURCH
08:00am – We will be picked up from our accommodation. We head towards the south of Cusco, in approximately an hour we arrive to the Chapel of the Purified Virgin of Cannicunca, built on top of an ancient Wari center and next to the Urcos lake.
Four minutes away from Canincunca sits our second destination – the Church of Saint John the Baptist of Huaro. The church possesses 60 sculptures and 50 canvas paintings of great quality and beauty as well as silver, rentables, and other possessions.
Our third destination is the Church of Saint Peter the Apostle of Andahuaylillas. The church’s artistic majesty is reflected in the coffered ceilings in mudejar style, immense variety and richness of canvas paintings, such as the series dedicated to Saint Peter the Apostle, patron saint of the town, the polychrome ceiling and the triumphal arch of the main nave.
After visiting the church in Andahuaylillas we will head to the town of Saylla, to have our gastronomic experience and try the dish called “chicharon” (deep fried pork)
After lunch we will drive for aprox 20 minutes we will arrive at the village of Huasao . Beautiful and impressive, the Huasao Wetland of Cusco is a place that has sculptures between 4 and 5 meters high.
This isolated place of the city is an oasis of tranquility, geographical beauty and full of the intense energy of nature. It has been inaugurated as a tourist place.
This natural area had been neglected for some time, threatened by environmental pollution due to poor waste management; The recovery of this beautiful nature reserve was a joint action of the authorities and settlers, where today you can see wild herons, Andean ducks, a beautiful lake, typical Cusco flora, a relaxing and wide forest.

Day 3 – VOLUNTEER WORK AT CHILDCARE
08:00am – we will go to go to our Childcare project just a few blocks from the main square in Cusco.
Children from 1 to 5 years old attend our program, where the mean goal is to teach children basic knowledge of colors, language, music, numbers and to grow in a safe, clean, proper environment feeling loving, caring and strong.
We will be back at our hotel for lunch.
Afternoon: Cocktail Classes with Pisco:
Step behind our famous bar and learn from the masters.
Learn how to make the most famous drink in Peru, part pisco, part lime juice, part simple syrup and a lot of shaking! Blend your own infusion of mango, coca leaf, licorice or hot pepper.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch at the hotel and dinner at Pisco Museum
Day 4– VOLUNTEER WORK AT CHILDCARE
08:00am – This morning we will continue our volunteer work for 4 hours at our childcare program.
We will be back at our hotel for lunch.
Afternoon: Visit to Pisac & Ollantaytambo ruins
01:00pm – Pick up from your hotel to start our tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will visit the colorful market and the impressive ruins of Pisac, then we will continue Ollantaytambo to observe and walk among the architecture that has been impeccably preserved. We will be back in Cusco around 19:00.

Day 5– FULLDAY MACHU PICCHU TOUR
05:00am – Pick-up at your accommodation in Cusco, and then journey by bus to the train station at Ollantaytambo for about 1h40m from Cusco. Upon arrival, we will embark to take an amazing train ride towards Machu Picchu, where we will pass through extraordinary landscapes that will keep your camera ready! The train ride will take about 1h40m.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes ( town at the bottom of Machu Picchu), our guide will be waiting for you at the train station to escort you to the bus station to take the bus up to the ruins of Machu Picchu after about 25 minutes through the breathtaking scenery, we will reach the site of the “Lost City of the Incas,” we will enter the historic citadel and will start the group guide tour for 2hour.
After the guided tour you can enjoy some free time to explore the outer areas independently.
Return by bus to Aguas Calientes by yourself, where you will have time to explore the town on your own and enjoy one of the many restaurants or cafés. Then, you will board the train in the late afternoon for the return journey to Ollantaytambo, where on arrival, we will be waiting for you, to bring your back to your accommodation in Cusco.

Day 6 – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN FULLDAY TREK
04:00am – Our day starts with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. We will start our trip via van to the start of the trail about 3 hours from Cusco to get Hanchipacha community where we are going to stop for breakfast. After that we are going to drive you 15 minutes more to Quesiuno community (4,326 m / 14,189 ft.). We will start our trek for about 3 hours approx. On the way up we are going to be able to enjoy amazing landscapes of herds of alpacas and llamas, the Ausangate Mountain, many red mountains and traditional local houses.
When we finally reach the Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m / 16,466 ft.), you will have time to explore the area and take pictures. We will spend approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour (depend of your trekking speed and weather conditions).
After, we will start our hike back to the trailhead that take 2 hours approx. (Quesiuno community) where we are going to take our transportation to Hanchipacha community to have lunch. Then you are going to be drive to Cusco, and drop you at the hotel.

Day 7 – DEPARTURE FROM CUSCO
At appropriate time, we will pick you up at take you to the airport.

Volunteers will stay in hotel in Cusco based in double or triple rooms. Please contact us for single room.
Volunteers can expect to experience a variety of flavors during their experience as Peruvian food is diverse. Peru has one of the best gastronomy in the world, we strongly recommend volunteers to enjoy restaurants and markets during the stay in Peru.
Spanish language courses are available for all volunteers regardless of their ability.
Volunteers should strongly consider these courses as they will allow them to work and communicate with all parties more efficiently during their stay. These language courses are organized on arrival in Peru at the program orientation.
The language course is tailored to each volunteer’s current level of Spanish
– The minimum age for volunteers is 18 years old unless traveling with family members over 18 or their school.

– No previous volunteer experience or other qualifications are necessary as all skills are useful in our projects.
– We do require volunteers to be aware that they will encounter cultural differences in Peru, which they must be prepared to respect.
– Our volunteers must be willing to engage in their project and be open-minded towards the dissimilarities they may encounter.

– A no-refundable, no-transferable payment of US$250.00 per person must be paid at time of booking.
– After reserving your place please book your flight and send us your flight information so we can schedule your airport pick-up. Also, visit your doctor for any vaccinations you may require and do not hesitate to ask us any questions that you may have.
– Upon receipt of your details you will be sent our in-depth pre-departure brochure full of indispensable tips regarding preparation and packing, your destination and its customs, your accommodations, travel requirements and suggestion.
– The remaining total is due 10 days before the start of your program.
